The international research center CARDET, recently coordinated a study visit at Imperial College London (UK) and Riga Technical University (Latvia), in order to examine the ways in which these two universities collaborate with industry and promote innovation. The visit, was part of the project “Development and operation of University-Industry Liaison Offices in the Republic of Cyprus”, coordinated by the University of Cyprus.
Introduction
During the past decade there has been tremendous progress in the advancement of educational technology making innovative learning solutions such as e-learning and online education increasingly more feasible in many educational settings. In several countries, the use of e-learning has now begun to noticeably contribute to economic growth. In Cyprus, an island in the Mediterranean Sea located at the crossroads of Europe, Asia, and Africa, many large-scale e-learning initiatives are currently being undertaken by both public and private organizations, establishing the country as a center for education in the region.
On Monday 18.12.23 I had the privilege to deliver a training program for Master Trainers to a group of expert trainers from the Ministry of Education, Youth and Sports, The Cyprus Pedagogical Institute, the Cyprus Human Resource Development Authority, and the University of Nicosia.
The training was within the framework of the project AdultDigitalUp, which aims to support the Cypriot authorities to improve digital literacy of adults in Cyprus with a particular focus on adult educators and low-skilled adults. The project is implemented by the Cyprus Ministry of Education, Sport and Youth, supported by the European Commission’s Directorate-General for Structural Reform Support (DG REFORM) and coordinated by CARDET.
Σύμφωνα με την UNESCO, τους τελευταίους 2 μήνες πέραν του 1.3 δισεκατομμύρια μαθητών/τριών έχουν επηρεαστεί από το κλείσιμο των σχολείων σε παγκόσμιο επίπεδο. Η τεχνολογία μπορεί να βελτιώσει την πρόσβαση και την ποιότητα της εκπαίδευσης και να παρέχει ευελιξία σε μαθητές και εκπαιδευτικούς, δίχως χωροχρονικούς περιορισμούς.
